DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Provide direction and leadership for all aspects of circulation,
electronic and traditional reserves, stack maintenance, distance
education and coordination of the bibliographic instruction programs.
The position holder will be expected to supervise and evaluate staff;
draft policy; develop procedures, plan workflow, and resolve problems
and other issues. The circulation unit consists of three FTE permanent
staff and approximately six FTE student assistants. The unit is highly
automated using Innovative Interfaces' (III) Circulation, and electronic
reserves module. Evening and weekend work required.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
MLS from an ALA-accredited program at an accredited institution of
higher education; strong customer service orientation; relevant library
and supervisory experience; ability to work independently and in
collaboration with others; strong information technology skills;
experience with an integrated library system; effective oral and written
communication skills; ability to work some evenings and weekends;
flexibility and ability to adapt to a changing environment. PREFERRED
EXPERIENCE: Experience working in and supervising access services
(Circulation) operations in an academic library; experience with an
Innovative Interfaces system; knowledge or relevant laws and regulations
such as the Privacy and Copyright Acts; demonstrated leadership and
project management skills.
