- Subject: RE: hourly loan rule question
I'm assuming that what you want to do is allow things to only go out
overnight and have them due the same time each day. This is somewhat
complicated and difficult to explain so feel free to get back to me with
specific questions or for more explanation.
The Hours Open table is used to control hourly loan rules. Items are due 1
hour after the open time. We want our Honors reserve books (location
smhon) to be due 1pm Monday thru Saturday so we set the open time at
1200. On Sunday we want them due at 4pm, so we have 1500 as the open
time. Setting the closing time is a bit more complicated since it depends
on when your library actually opens and closes and the number of hours in
the loan rule. (We had to readjust the parameters a couple of years ago
when we changed our library's closing time from midnight to 1am.) You want
it to work so that when a patron goes to check out a reserve item, Tripod
thinks the library is closed and therefore gives a due date for the next
day. I've put the parameters we have set up so that you can compare them
to your situation.
Our hours open table looks like this:
OPEN CLOSE
67 > smhon ??? 1200 2000
68 > smhon sat 1200 1800
69 > smhon sun 1500 2400
And this is the loan rule:
01 > NAME S Honors
02 > CODE J
03 > NORMAL LOAN PERIOD 11
Our actual library hours are
Mon-Thurs 8am-1am
Fri 8am-10pm
Sat 10am-6pm
Sun 12pm-1am
You may need to play around with this, so create a test patron and a test
item record. Then try checking it out a different times of the day.
