Janine,
I am not sure about the language but you can get the number of volumes by location by going to
>M Management information >S Create STATISTICAL Reports >R To enter a RANGE of numbers. Then if you change to .i to search items you may just press enter to start the search from the beginning .i number and press enter again to have it search through the last .i number in your database. Then you select >O Statistical report based on all OTHER record data and answer any questions along the way.  It will take awhile to compile the stats but then you can select the location report (in my system it displays a codes report first but location is an option on the bottom of your screen.)  Another report in that same section may work for languages. I have never tried. You could also create lists by dividing your database into sections of 60,000 records or less based on the numbers you hopefully print out each month using >M>I>F>S.
Hope this helps,

Subject: Statistics

Anyone have any information about how to go about getting collection statistics.  For example, a total number of volumes (items) broken down by languague, or by location.

Create lists doesn't help because the totals go above the alloted number of records, i.e., 60,000.  What do other libraries do to get statistics on their collection?

Thanks
