Try the Create Statistical Reports program under Management Information 
in the character-based system.  This can get you all kinds of counts of 
items or bibs or other records in all kinds of ways, and you can run it 
on a range of records (like all of them) rather than on a review file.

(This will be even better in the new MilStats program that's coming soon.)
