- Subject: use of III for software inventory/circulation?
Hello -- has anyone used their III system to manage a campus software
inventory? I'm looking for a model where ALL software (including staff
productivity apps or utilities) for a college or university is managed
through the library system, from ordering to cataloging to circulation. We
would be providing this service for our IT and Academic Computing
departments who previously managed these functions. The software inventory
might include a good deal of software "management" information that doesn't
fit the typical bib record (licensing information, serial numbers,
computers on which software is installed) Do any of the add-on modules
facilitate (in an elegant way) this use (i.e. materials booking) or are we
barking up the wrong tree? Thanks for your insight!
