- Subject: Re: Identifying who requests materials in order records
Hi, Joe:
I've done this two different ways. At the moment we have an internal
note with the words "faculty allowance" and the faculty members name -
e.g. faculty allowance felice lowell. I can ask the system for all
internal notes - "z has" . That way I can get all faculty request
titles or I can ask for just a single faculty member's name. Up until
this year, we have also used individual faculty names as separate funds.
I'm thinking of eliminating this method. Since we share the database
with the university library, we have had to compromise on some of the
coding. In Miami, we had two free 1 digit fields that we used to
indicate who we had ordered the material for by assigning a letter or a
number to each selector. I'm not sure which way I like better. Each
has its drawbacks. But you can get the information you need.
