I have running the Interactive checker against the Automatic report as you suggest, though I don't like it because it takes over control of your pc and you can't shrink it while it's happening.
With the automatic report (ours runs every Monday morning about 230 I think) we got 488 -22 messages today, and when I ran the interactive against the same range I got 413.
I think maybe you must be right about the proxy server vs. the Innopac robot. But then I suppose the rest of the staff and opac users are going to be in the same situation as me.
