I have done some recent additional testing of Anzio (our telnet client)
running on a portable PC over a wireless (802.11b) link. It works quite
well.

In fact, I was testing with a TabletPC. This device is intriguing to me
for a number of reasons. It is a fully functional portable PC, with a
built in wireless link. It can run standard Windows programs. It is very
portable - you can carry it on one arm, with only the screen showing. Then
you can "write" on the screen, or do keyboard input using handwriting, a
soft keyboard, or voice.

You could presumably connect a barcode scanner. My device has no standard
serial ports, so you would need either a USB-connected scanner, or a
USB-to-serial adapter for a serial scanner.
