Hello Sue,
The Sacramento Public Library (a consortium of about 40 branches) went "live" with III mid-December 1999.  Some stats that might give you a snapshot of what we experienced in the past 3 years (Innovative years):

Total checkouts: 2000--3,564,318  2001--4,068,449  2002--4,476,891 increases of 11% and 10%, respectively.

Patron-placed requests/Total requests: 2000--65,909/191,147 (34.5%)  2001--141,504/284,259 (49.8%)  2002--252,820/416,383 (60.7%)   Overall,  Total holds went up 117.8% while Patron-placed requests went up 283.6%

Filled holds:  2000--144,347  2001--224,480 ( +55.5%)  2002--323,471 (+44.1%)  (overall 124.1% increase)

Patrons are also allowed to Renew online:
Patron renewals/Total renewals  2000--130,238/468,167 (27.8%)  2001--324/732,723 (44.3%)  2002--571,791/1,021,166 (56.0%)

The delivery of holds to the branches and the processing of these holds has increased significantly with no significant increase or decrease in staffing levels (Budget limitations, etc.)  We are searching for methods to streamline some of this workload but no real changes yet.  I would be happy to provide more details, if needed.
