Innovative Users Group (IUG)
Election 2003
Call for Nominees

Do you value the work of the Innovative Users Group? Do you want to help shape
its future?

Join the Steering Committee of the IUG and you too can make a difference.

Help plan our annual conference, work on the website, contribute your new ideas.

This winter we will elect a Vice Chair/Chair Elect, a Treasurer and two
Members-at-Large. Terms begin on the last day of the annual conference (Monday
April 28, 2003). The treasurer and members-at-large serve two year terms. The
Vice Chair serves one year as Vice Chair, one year as Chair and one year as Past
Chair. Deadline for submitting names of candidates is Friday January 31, 2003
at 5pm EST.

Duties: All Steering Committee members speak for the membership, serve on ad hoc
working groups and provide advice to the Chair. The Vice Chair serves as chair
of the Program Committee for the Annual Conference. The Treasurer manages our
finances and maintains the membership roster. We are reviewing a proposal to
outsource some of the Treasurers' intensive financial duties. If you are
interested in this position, but daunted by the responsibility, please contact
either Anne Myers (Chair) or Jennifer Merrill (Past Chair) for more information
about the upcoming changes. Please feel free to contact any member of the
Steering Committee <http://innovativeusers.org/about/steering.htm> about the
other open positions.

Meetings: The Steering Committee has four regularly scheduled meetings during
the year. Two are during the Annual Conference and there is one each at ALA
Annual and ALA Midwinter. Attendance at the ALA meetings is highly recommended,
but not mandatory. Steering Committee members are expected to attend the Annual
IUG Conference. The arrival date is generally two days before the
Pre-Conference day and we strongly prefer that you remain through the final
session on the final day of the Main Conference, departing on the day after the
conference if necessary to meet that obligation. [This works out to be about 1
week depending on your travel distance from the conference.]

Compensation includes complimentary hotel room for the duration of the Annual
Conference, including the extra days of Steering Committee commitment, an
assortment of free meals and many opportunities to have fun.

Interested? Here's what to do:

Submit your name, the office you are interested in, and a biographical sketch
describing your recent work history and reasons for candidacy to the Chair of
the Nominating Committee. (Sample statements can be viewed at
