Our network administrator has been talking
with Microsoft about this. It seems
that he can’t create a wildcard in a subdomain zone file. He has used the workaround of putting
the wildcard in the main Colgate.edu zone, rather than in the library.colgate.edu
subdomain zone. He and the tech support
person from MS are still trying to identify if this is because 1) it’s a nonstandard thing in the RFC, or 2) it’s
a bug in MS code. If it’s a
bug, they’ll fix it for us. If not, we’ll have to make do with the
workaround. If this is your
situation, let me know, and I’ll put you in touch with our network guy. His breakthrough comes after months(?) of my trying to find out if any III-WAM libraries
had successfully configured their Windows 2000 DNS. Or if III
had any suggestions. -----Original Message----- Can someone who has successfully configured their
Windows 2000 DNS (or had it done and has the exact steps performed) contact me?
We're following the directions on CSDirect (or so we think), but still cannot
get it to work. Thanks Michael Carty |
