Position - System Director

Description
Work where others vacation, on beautiful Lake Superior and the Apostle
Islands National Lakeshore area!  Northern Waters Library Service, an eight
county library system headquartered in Ashland, Wisconsin, is seeking
applicants for the position of Director.  The NWLS Director exercises the
day-to-day administrative responsibilities of the system. The director
supervises a staff of eight FTEs, plans services to 29 member libraries, and
oversees a budget of $949,908 under direction of the NWLS Board of Trustees.
The director consults with and assists member libraries on library budgets,
policies and bylaws, roles and responsibilities of library directors and
library trustees, library law, and helps to identify alternative funding
sources. The director reports to the NWLS Board of Trustees.

Requirements
Applicants must possess strong supervisory, communication, organizational,
and public relations skills, and have experience with budgets and planning,
fundraising, grant writing, and working with Foundations.  Frequent travel
is required.

MLS/ALA; experience with library systems; 5 years professional level library
experience, including two years in an administrative position; working
knowledge of budgets; ability to provide positive and creative leadership to
a dedicated, professional staff, and member librarians.  Must provide proof
of a valid Wisconsin drivers license or show ability to attain one.

The applicant should also be familiar with current trends in library
technology.

Salary range- $50,000-$60,000 with generous benefits
