- Subject: RE: Fines - a week apart?
I just recently jointed this listserv and so I missed the first message.
However, if I correctly understand your question, our policy corresponds
with what you would like to do. Our patrons are charged $.05 for the first
21 days after the due date and then are charged $.10 per day until a maximum
$5.00 in fines is reached.
We accomplished this through the loan rules. In each loan rule, line #37
mandates the number of days in the first loan period and line #38 dictates
the fine charged each day. Line #39 contains the number of days in the
second loan period and line #40 dictates the fines for this loan period.
In our case, the value in line #37 is 22 and line #38 is $.05 -- this
charges the patron $.05 per day for the first 21 days. Line#39 is 39 and
line#40 is $.10 -- this charges patrons $.10 per day for the next 39 days.
I hope you find this useful.

Subject: Fines - a week apart?
**I originally sent this on Dec. 20. I received one response from
someone who thought I could do it, but I'm still hoping to hear from
someone who is actually doing it (or has tried it and found it to
definitely be impossible)!***
Our AV department would like to change the way fines are charged for
their equipment. They'd like to have the initial fine be $15, leave it
at that for a week, then after 7 days raise it to $25, then 7 days
later raise it again to $35.
I've tried wading through the manual, but can't figure out if this is
possible - and if so, how to do it.
So I'm hoping that either someone has a similar setup (fine stays the
same for a week, then goes up - instead of increasing each day) and
can help me out, or has wanted to do this and found it to be
impossible.
Thanks in advance for your help!
