I also use status=1 records (they're great for keeping track
of books announced and not-yet-available and, as I understand
it, the funds are not encumbered until the status is changed
to o).  But I usually suppress the bibs they're attached to.

Why? Because of that darned displayed message.  I did ask iii
if we could change it to "1 copy to be ordered" because "under
consideration" brought us phone calls from patrons who wanted
to lobby for purchase.  We're glad to have such curious and
pro-active patrons, but, truth to tell, it was easier to avoid
answering the question altogether.  The bib records are
unsuppressed when the status is changed to o.
