- Subject: Proxy rewrite and XP
I am having an on-campus issue with Windows XP and proxy rewrite (and I
assume off campus, although I haven't tested XP off campus yet). I set up
access so that our on campus users do not have to validate to use the
electronic resources. This worked great from my desk, and from the
library terminals/computer lab. Then I tried it from my computer (running
Windows 98) using the various IP addresses we have on campus and that
worked great. Then I went over to our large computer lab on campus just
to check (I had such high hopes) and of course, the new link I created
that worked so well in the library didn't. All I got was the standard
"The page can not be displayed".
I was puzzled, then I remembered that the lab used Windows XP. I came
back to the library, and on our one XP machine in the library my newly
created links did not work either. Is there something in XP that is
causing it not to read the new web address correctly?
Here is an example of Britannica:

Any tips or hints on what could be would be nice.
