I have used netscape 6 and 7 to search z39 libraries from our web
z39 client without problem. What url do you use to access your search
page. There are some potential problems with use of urls that begin:

http:/

for instance. These were used for some innopac services in earlier versions
of the webpac. They can create problems in netscape 6 that do not show up in
ie or 4.x

This might have something to do with the way Netscape 6.x bans certain ports for security reasons.  We are unable to use Netscape 6 to access our CJK records because they are being output on a "non-standard" port.  -- Howard

Are you sure that it was the Netscape 6?
I just did a couple of searches using our Z39.50 and Netscape 6.
