University Librarian, Wilson Library, University of La Verne. 

The University of La Verne invites nominations and applications for 
the position of University Librarian. This is a fiscal twelve-month 
position beginning June 1, 2003. The duties of this position include
responsibility for the overall operation of library services in support of
the on-campus, off-campus, and distance learning academic programs of the 
institution; managing and coordinating the library faculty and staff, services,
collections and external relations of the library so that each component 
contributes effectively, efficiently and imaginatively to the mission of the 
library; and will provide leadership in planning and implementing the 
integration of new information technologies into existing library services. 
This position will have final authority to apportion funds to initiate 
expenditures within the library budget and in accord with institutional 
policy. This position requires an earned MLS from an ALA-accredited program; 
an earned doctorate or second advanced degree is preferred; a minimum of 
five years administrative and supervisory experience in an academic library; 
the ability to understand and have experience in overseeing delivery of 
on-campus and off-campus library services; possess knowledge of how 
information technology can be used to support innovative library services; 
experience in bibliographic instruction and information literacy program 
delivery; demonstrated experience in building coalitions for budgetary 
support, effective fundraising, grant writing, and possess donor relations 
skills; a demonstrated a collegial attitude toward the needs of students, 
faculty and staff in a complex university setting; and demonstrated excellent 
interpersonal and communication skills, effective decision-making and 
organizational skills, and a commitment to team-building and collaborative 
initiatives. The University offers a competitive hiring range and a
