- Subject: Comparing 2 MARC bib records
We have recently been using MS Word's "compare documents" feature (under
Tools->Track Changes) to compare 2 versions of the same bib. record and find
the differences.
This kind of comparing would seem to have many cat. maintenance-related
applications. Lately we have been using it to compare a before and after
version of a bib. which has just been overlayed with updates from LTI.
We're using it to make sure our Load table is working the way we want, and
to double check on the desireability of authority changes that LTI is doing
for us.
MS Word certainly seems to work for this, but I'm wondering if there is a
better or more extensive application for doing this kind of thing. Maybe
one specifically meant to compare MARC records?
Thanks,
John
