Our very first use of the booking module was to book group study rooms.  We created a brief bib record for Group Study Rooms, then an item record for each room number, with barcode.   The item call number is GSR followed by the room number.  The key to the room has the barcode on it.  From the 9th week of the quarter thru finals, students can reserve a room at the circ desk thru the booking module (earlier in the quarter the rooms are not reserved).  If you want to see what this looks like, search by title:  group study rooms, in our catalog:  http://www.calstatela.edu/library/opac/catalog.html

Once we acquired media, we also used the booking module to reserve films for professors to show in class, or to reserve small viewing rooms in our library.  Now any of our media, VHS, DVD, Music CD's, are bookable thru our Media Center. 

The only part we do not use is self-booking.  It was not all that long ago that we turned automatic patron requests (holds) on in our OPAC.  We are not ready to turn on self-booking yet, especially since only faculty can take media form the library; students must use media in the library.

Our library is fairly new to the Innovative system (since our school is
only two years old, that explains why) and we're just now starting to
use most of our Millenium modules. We're trying to figure out what the
Booking Module is intended to be used for -- so far as we can tell, it
seems like it would be used to "hold" items in the future. The manual
doesn't shed much light on the subject except to say that you can
book items with the booking module, and then explaining how. We had rather
hoped it could be used to book study rooms as well, but that doesn't seem
immediately possible. Could some folks who are using this module
explain in what capacity you're using it for, and if using it for booking
rooms, how you've got that set up?
