We definitely have the same problem with repeats, but have not checked for
titles that are missed. We have found no cause or solution, and have also
reported this to the Help Desk.

Subject: Purchase Alerts
We are experiencing problems with the Purchase Alerts report and would like
to know if other libraries have found the same anomalies. We have tried to
identify a pattern to the problems but cannot and the Help Desk has not been
able to find a solution. Firstly, there are titles that should be captured
in the report that are missed, even though the ratio of holds to copies has
been exceeded. We routinely discover titles that should have made it onto
the report but that have not. Secondly, titles that have appeared on a
Purchase Alert report are repeated on subsequent lists. We have been told by
Help Desk staff that this should happen only if the hold list has gone back
down to zero. However, we find that it happens in situations where the hold
list has remained high (new bestsellers) and definitely would not have gone
back down to zero.
Do other libraries have the same experience? Have you identified a pattern,
and more importantly, a solution to the problem?
