We have well over 100 volunteers and most of them spend some time
working at the circ desk. Generally, we have a staff person at
the desk or in the immediate area. I have setup a "volunteer"
login with limited privs. Whenever there is a function they are
not supposed to do (such as modify the Hold queue) and they try,
a popup windows asking for initials appears requiring a staff
person to enter her/his initials in order to proceed. If you
have any volunteers who like to poke around the system and try
out different options (we have some), this login will radically
limit what they can get into and modify.

Subject: another volunteer question

It seems that I misunderstood what my director really wanted when
I asked
about volunteers and extended hours.

What I really need to know is whether anyone (especially public
libraries)
allow volunteers to use the Innovative Millennium software on the
circ desk?
If yes, are they directly supervised (staff person on the desk or
in the
same area all the time)?
Thanks again.
