Create Lists: Sorting by MARC subfield

Greetings All:

Seeking your counsel and validation, or correction.

I want to sort a list by a MARC subfield (856 |u).  When using Create Lists in the Millennium edition, I'm prompted for tttii|sssss (t=tag, i=indicator, s=subfield).

I've tried designating 856|u, 856 |u, but don't see any change in the list arrangement, so I'm seeking your counsel.

I want to sort by _any_ 856 field, regardless of indicators, and use only the |u to sort.

How would you express that?

While I try various ideas that come to my mind, I'd be grateful to hear from you all, regarding your excellent solutions.
