Hi Cheryl,
We just purchased Syndetics content and have it installed  but not yet "rolled out" for the public.  We investigated the pros and cons pretty thoroughly before we decided to go ahead with the project, as we do share your concern about patrons not getting any "Additional Information" in too many instances.  My understanding (and I'm not the system admin) is that ANY time you have an ISBN in the bib record the "Additional Information" button, or whatever you choose to call it, will be on the screen.  In fact, we are wanting to customize the button to say, in effect:  "Maybe there is some more info--do you want to check?"  Coming up with the succinct phrase is taking more time than it should--you can just imagine! 

Our Manager of Technical Services headed up the work group looking into Syndetics.  He sent our entire database to Syndetics so we would actually know what our "hit rates" were for adults' versus children's materials, and for each of the components we wanted to purchase.
