POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
CATALOGING  LIBRARIAN

The  Jacob Burns Law Library seeks a cataloging librarian to
perform original descriptive and subject cataloging, and edit shared
cataloging copy for both print and non-print media, with emphasis 
on legal materials. Other responsibilities include maintenance of 
records for continuations, solving cataloging conflicts between 
catalog records and the collection, providing authority control of 
headings with emphasis on table of contents headings, 
coordinating the verification of URL’s in records, participating in the 
library’s cooperative programs and assisting in special 
departmental projects.

QUALIFICATIONS: MLS from an accredited institution; cataloging 
experience at a professional level, preferably in an academic library 
or in a law library; working knowledge of AACR2R, LC classification
schedules, LCSH, LCRI’s, CSB, MARC formats,  OCLC, and RLIN; 
experience with an automated integrated library system, preferably 
INNOVATIVE; outstanding communication skills; strong service 
orientation and demonstrated ability to work well independently and 
with others; self-starter. PREFERRED: Facility with languages, 
preferably Japanese, Chinese, Italian or German.
