Using Global Update to Delete Periods

We have a number of records with incorrectly typed 856 fields urls which 
include a period at the end of the url.  Most of the them are of the form 
"html.".  Is there any way to use MilCat to delete the periods.  The period 
seems to be a wildcard character.  -- Howard
