Steven -- The only thing that I can add to Caleb's posting is the notion
of what printers are associated with the Milcirc login. While you can
associate multiple printers with a Milcirc login, you can really only
have one "local" printer setting in the login (in addition to e-mail and
system printers). So if you have multiple "local printers" selected for
that login, Millennium only uses the setting associated with the FIRST
one it finds. This is not clear because when you set your printer in
Millennium, because you get the WINDOWS screen which theoretically
allows you to select any printer on that PC.
So you might want to play with the login and change the first local
printer option until you get one that can "translate" between Millennium
and your Citizen printer. This is a somewhat simple response that has
worked in the past...!
Also, is your printer connected via the serial connection to LPT1 or
COM1. If it is a serial connection, then you can make sure that you
check that button under the direct text printing.
There are very few questions that I would like to be asked five times a
day, including "hey, can I buy you lunch?", "are you free to star in the
new David Mamet movie?" or "may I give you a new PC?" So I hope this
helps.
Best --
Corey

Subject: MilCirc printing to attached printer - eeek!
Hi
The last thing I wanted to do was clog the group with another plea in
regard to printing from Millennium, but my time is running short and
Innovative is not producing results, so I'm desperate.
I'm trying to print from MilCirc to the Citizen receipt printers we have
attached to the serial port (LPT1) on the local PCs. MilCirc can print
fine to the networked printers, to email, but reports that it cannot
find
the locally attached printer.
I can print from Windows, from character-based through the telnet
program,
from anything but MilCirc.
All settings are as advertised on the printing FAQ on CSDirect (which is
rather dissapointingly just the section on printing from the manual).
Has anyone had this problem and had it solved? If it was solved by
Innovative, I would appreciate the call number and/or the technicians
involved. I've tried every trick I know and all variations on settings,
have uninstalled and reinstalled Mill and the JRE, tried various drivers
for the printer (currently settled on the Generic/Text, which is what
works
fine with evertyhing else). I suspect it is something to do with the
configuration (which I don't have access to) but of course can prove
nothing.
This is making me look pretty bad so I would greatly appreciate anyone
who
could bail me out. My director is asking me five times a day: "Can we
print yet?" Currently, I am forced to slouch in my chair and do the
shrug
and mumble.
TIA,
Steven Moody
