Foreign words that are not articles
[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
We are curious what other libraries are doing about words in foreign
languages that are spelled the same as English articles, but are not
articles. For instance, an in German is a preposition, and a very popular
first word in titles. When the title appears in a 7xx field, III counts it
as an article and skips it, causing the title to file under the second word
in a browse list. An die ferne Geleibte should show up near the beginning
of a browse list under Beethoven, but shows up in the ds, for der. Does any
one know if there is a way around this? I seems as if setting the language
code would do it, but apparently, th language code does not affect the 7xx
field.
