Jim -- It sounds like you need to manually program an "enter" or
"return" command as a suffix to the scanning of the barcode. I had the
same thing happen with some of the scanners I have here at my Library.
To program the scanner, you need to get the manual. Symbol is pretty
good about having their manuals on their website:
http://www.symbol.com/.
What you do is program the barcode scanner by scanning certain barcodes
in the manual. They are clearly labeled and you would be looking for the
suffix section. It really is not that hard.

Subject: Seeking workaround with Symbol scanners
Hello all,
I'm with a library that is poised to go live with
Millenium at the end of the month. When working with
the training module I find that I must hit the
Enter/Return key after the scan in order to get the
scan to execute.
The III help desk informs me that Innovative doesn't
support my brand of scanner (Symbol LS 4000 series) but
they thought that perhaps one of you who own Symbol
scanners came up with a workaround and would be willing
to share your knowledge.
It would save us some expense if you could.
Thanks in advance,
Jim
