We use both light pens and hand held and hands free scanners. The problem
we
have with the pens is that they can't seem to read through heavy tape or
plastic covers in the case of some videos or CD's where the barcode is
"protected." We have tried different brands of light pens. We have no
problem with the other scanners reading these
same barcodes. We use only hands free scanners at our checkout desk.
