RE: printing

We use the Uniprint software from Pharos:

http://www.pharos.com/

Not cheap. Requires NT/2000 server,
Microsoft SQL license. and a print
station for each printer (these can be
old pc's)

But it works well, has been very stable for us,
and the server can be shared by many departments at
a university, which brings down the costs.

It would take a long time to recover the costs on just
1 or 2 printers.

Because of the cost of printing, our library is now exploring charging
patrons for printing from the library's computers. I am trying to
gather basic information on the companies and products available for
managing library printing. If you could send me off list the name of
the company and software your library is using to manage public
printing. I would really appreciate it. My e-mail address is:

Thanks,
Rhonda
