There was no overlay for our record load. When we load records the overlay
is based on an OCLC number match, and the EBSCO records do not have an OCLC
number. When we loaded the EBSCO records about 2 years ago there was no
222 field in those records, so they are not indexed in our journal title
field. I suggested that EBSCO include that field and I'm not sure if they
have done that yet. We are committed to the 1-record approach when we have
both print & electronic versions of a journal, so we are copying and
pasting the EBSCO 856 field into our print records and then deleting the
EBSCO record. If we don't have a print record we add a 222 field to the
EBSCO record. We check EBSCO's site for bimonthly additions and deletions.
It's easy to keep up with deletions, although we're not currently
up-to-date with additions. I've asked EBSCO to provide MARC records for
additions instead of just updating their full set of records, and I hope
they will provide that service some day.
