Full backups every day give you one-stop shopping when you go to restore. If you have one full backup, then 5 "daily" backups, it takes all 6 tapes to be good for a complete restore. If you are talking about system files which don't change during the week and so are not backed up in the "daily" backups, then you have only one shot to get them right. The reason you would not do full backups every day would be most often because the system could not finish it in time for the next day.

May,
We didn't have any scientific reason for doing unattended full backups
daily. It was just a matter of why not? It is just as easy for us to do
full backups every day than "daily" backups everyday.
