What we did was to allow access to only the IP numbers that III gave us
for their servers. All other traffic on the port is not allowed
through.
Considering the investment in time and money investment we had made
before we even load one record into the system we had to insure that our
patron would be able to access the information that we provided. This
means that if a problem is identified we need a timely response from III
to solve it. If we need to hunt down the appropriate person in the CS
department to open up a port for III to problem solve, it will only slow
down III ability to resolve problems.
This is not an point that may win you argument. But it was our
position.
