LIBRARY DIRECTOR, Rochester Public Library, Rochester, New Hampshire.
The Rochester Public Library Board of Trustees seeks a dynamic team and
community leader with the ability and experience to further develop and
deliver quality public library service to a small city with a population
of 29,000. The Director supervises 8 full-time and 15 part-time staff
and is responsible for a $700,000 budget. The collection size is 79,700
items, annual circulation is 175,900, and the library’s 25,000 sf.
facility was recently expanded and renovated. The position requires an
ALA-accredited MLS, a minimum of five years progressively responsible
experience in professional library work, including three years of
administrative and supervisory responsibility at a public library. The
applicant should have a demonstrated ability in the areas of long range
planning, fundraising, excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
experience with budgeting and planning, staff management, facility
management, information technologies, and the ability to work
effectively with staff, board and community organizations. Rochester,
which is part of the Seacoast Area, is 12 miles from ocean beaches, 50
miles from major ski areas, and 50 miles from Boston. The library’s
