Occasionally we have had a problem with holds that would not display because
of a broken link in some part of the hold transaction. My recollection is
that these were bibliographic records that got deleted without the hold
being cancelled. Patron places a hold on a record right before we
delete/withdraw it. We always thought there was some type of safeguard to
prevent records with holds from being deleted but this was the explanation
from Innovative. The end result was the patron hold data could not be
loaded and repairing the broken link could only be resolved by the help
desk. I do seem to recall that in MilCirc the hold tab would display the
number of holds but clicking on the tab displayed none of them. In Telnet
circulation, you got the message that the system was unable to load the hold
data.

We have had holds vanish from staff several times (never public, only
staff). Innovative has checked the examples I was able to give them, and
they had been cancelled in webPAC or Milcirc every time. Since the people
losing the holds did not do this, it would seem that someone, accidentally
or otherwise, is cancelling some staff holds. We did not have the
experience, as far as I know, of the tab showing holds that became
reactivated. Good luck with this and let me know what happened if you find
out.

I have had three patrons (all staff) tell me that all of their holds just
disappeared from their records. Two of the staff couldn't tell me the names
of any of the items they had on hold so I couldn't really do much
troubleshooting.
The third knew most of her titles, but they did not show on her record. Her
name did not show up on either the bib or item record as a hold. The funny
thing was that when you looked at her record, the Holds tab showed she had
18 holds, but when you clicked on the tab, there were no holds showing. Her
holds did show back up on her record the next day, but the holds for the
other two staff members never showed up again.
Has any other library had this problem?
