ALA Midwinter Meeting Announcement

Please join the ALCTS Acquisitions Administrators Discussion Group from 
10:30-12:30 on Saturday, January 19, 2002 at the Wyndham Canal Place 
Magnolia III as we discuss The Vanishing Acquisitions Librarian. Although 
focused on acquisitions librarians, the topic has relevance for filling all 
types of library positions.

We shall discuss the causes for the librarian shortage, employment trends, 
and the screening process. We plan to address the status of acquisitions 
librarians, salary issues, and increasing expectations and demands on 
incumbents. This will include departmental reorganizations/mergers, 
outsourcing, and the associated impact on support staff.

Because this is a discussion group, we expect to have a very lively forum.
