Member Services Manager, Marmot Library Network, Inc., Grand Junction, CO

        Join a talented team of librarians and automation specialists delivering quality technology services to academic, school, and public libraries in western Colorado. Grand Junction is a high desert valley at 4600 feet surrounded by the Grand Mesa, Colorado National Monument, and Mt. Garfield and the 'bookcliffs'. The Network is a not-for-profit corporation supported by publicly funded member libraries.
        Direct member services include consulting, training, publishing user documentation, managing system parameters, resolving non-critical trouble reports, processing library purchase orders and billing, customizing user interfaces, managing Web applications for member libraries, testing new software releases, developing system management reports, and demonstrating products and services. Indirect member services include monitoring system vendors' activity, managing conferences and workshops, coordinating new product and service implementation, and writing grant requests. Member Services provides staff support for the System Development Committee.
        Contact the Executive Director. Starting salary is $45-50,000. The position will be filled on or before 02/01/02.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE:  MEMBER SERVICES MANAGER

PURPOSE:  Provide support services to member libraries.

REQUIREMENTS:  Masters degree in library science.  Extensive knowledge of computer applications for libraries.  Ability to solve problems and assist people in learning and performing tasks.  Talent to work successfully with system vendors.  Ability to balance multiple priorities and complete projects on schedule.  Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.  Frequent travel to member libraries. 

REPORTS TO:  Executive Director

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:  The Network staff, library staff using the Network systems, staff of other libraries, library service organizations, and vendors of computer applications for libraries.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Provide direct support to member library personnel.
-       Answer user questions and resolve user problems.
-       Provide user training.
-       Write user documentation and technical communications.
-       Monitor user satisfaction.
-       Maintain system parameters.
-       Coordinate acquisition of equipment and implementation of new products and services.
2.      Coordinate operations with vendors of computer applications for libraries.
-       Serve as liaison for member libraries.
-       Monitor vendor activities.
3.      Assist with development and marketing of new products and services.
-       Provide staff support to System Development Committee.
-       Recommend development projects.
-       Install new and updated programs in consultation with the Network staff.
4.      Supervise and coordinate work with Member Services Librarian.

5.      Participate in the Network management team.

6.      Represent the Network on regional and state committees.

7.      Backup System Operations staff, as necessary.

8.      Perform other duties as requested by Executive Director.
