Title:
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic
Five positions (two new). All 12-month tenured-track
positions. Salary very competitive.
Assistant Librarian rank: $42,092 -
57,683; Associate Librarian rank: $51,995 -
71,255
Required: ALA accredited Master's degree or its
international equivalent. Experience with an integrated library system.
Comfortable in an online, networked, and hands-on environment. Communication
skills, flexible, service commitment, teamwork and people skills.
Preferred: Additional advanced degree in a subject area, esp.

Two positions in Public Services,
report to the Head of Public and Research Services:
1. Public
Services Librarian: Reference and User Education:
Assistant or
Associate Librarian's rank. Ability to coordinate the planning and
implementation of the library's User Education program. Significant experience
in providing Information Literacy skills using traditional and innovative
approaches including computer based modules and outcome assessment tools.
Teamwork with other library and classroom faculty. Reference experience
required. Desired: Subject background in education at either graduate or
undergrad level, or teaching experience. Authoring software knowledge.
2.
Public Services Librarian: Reference (new
position):
Assistant Librarian's rank. Ability to coordinate the planning and
implementation of reference service delivery to on-site and off-site users,
traditional or non-traditional. Significant experience in reference services.
Substantive content knowledge of reference resources in all formats.
Organizational skills and ability to coordinate desk schedules, use statistics,
train students and staff, schedule off-site user ed sessions, etc. User
education experience required. Desired: College or research library
experience.
Three in Technical Services and Collection Development, #4
and #5 reporting to #3.
3. Head of Technical Services and
Collection Development Officer:
Reports to the Library Director.
Assistant or Associate Librarian's rank. Ability to coordinate the planning and
operations of technical services areas in acquisitions, cataloging,
preservation, serials, gifts, etc. Leadership in collection development and
working with library and classroom faculty in acquiring and integrating
traditional and electronic formats. Significant experience in integrated library
systems, managing collection/access budgets and a staff. Desired: Experience in
public services. Experience in database contract management.
4.
Technical Services Librarian: Acquisitions (new
position):
Assistant Librarian's rank. Significant experience in monograph
and media collection development in all formats. Significant hands-on experience
in budget & personnel management. Demonstrated ability to do original
cataloging, including multi-media. Knowledgeable about trends in collection
development. Knowledge of online acquisitions system. Desired: Experience in
public services. Experience in approval plans.
5. Technical
Services Librarian: Serials:
Assistant Librarian's rank. Significant
experience in serials collection development in all formats, print, microforms,
and e-resources. Significant hands on experience in budget & personnel
management. Ability in managing electronic serial resources. Ability to help the
library integrate print, microform, and electronic serials. Experience and
ability in serials collection analysis, and maintenance of the serials database
integrity. Knowledge of online serials system. Desired: Experience in public
services. Experience in database contract issues.
