Sally,

For the closed holdings, to have "day" displayed correctly in OPAC, you may
want to make sure in 853, the caption for subfield k is (day).  If it's
|k(date) or any other word, it won't display.  I hope it'll work in your
system.

As for open-ended holdings, in my experiment, the following combinations
don't seem to have any major problems:

|a |b |i |j |k
|a |b |i |j
|a |b |i
|a |i

But, if there are only |a and |b, then the captions (not in parentheses) and
a colon are bound to appear after the hyphen.  It appears to be the same
problem when subfield k is present in an open ended holdings as given in
your example.  I sent in a request to get it fixed on the |a |b combination
but wasn't aware of the problem triggered by |k until now.  I guess, we'll
need to send in another request.
