	Cataloger, Human Rights Collection
	Kresge Library
	Notre Dame Law School

An opportunity for a newer librarian (or for a more experienced librarian
who seeks to refocus on cataloging) in an important field is now available
at the Notre Dame Law School Library ( http://www.nd.edu/~lawlib/ ). The
Center for Civil and Human Rights at the University of Notre Dame (
http://www.nd.edu/~cchr/ ) has been awarded a Ford Foundation grant for the
Transitional Justice Project. A major component of the Project is the
establishment of the Accountability Resource Center which will gather,
organize, and make accessible materials on legal and societal experiences
with truth, justice, and reconciliation in the aftermath of systematic or
widespread human rights violations. The Human Rights Collection Cataloger
will organize and catalog this collection as well as increase accessibility
to existing human rights material in the Law Library collection.

Reporting to the Cataloging Librarian, the Human Rights Collection
Cataloger will work closely with Technical Services staff and share in the
professional oversight of activities in the Department with the Cataloging
Librarian and the Acquisitions/Serials Librarian. The library uses the
Innovative Interfaces Millennium product as its ILS. The Human Rights
Collection Cataloger will collaborate with the Manager of the Transitional
Justice Project to establish and maintain the Accountability Resource
Center according to the goals of the Project.

The successful candidate will possess an ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent
and experience or interest in cataloging. Proficiency in Spanish is
strongly preferred, and knowledge of French is desirable. The position is
funded for three years. The opportunity for continued funding for the
position after that time is possible.

The Center for Civil and Human Rights is a major teaching, research, and
service facility in the University and in the human rights community. With
strong LLM and JSD programs, a committed and highly regarded faculty, and a
network of students and supporters around the world, the Center is ideally
suited for the establishment of the Accountability Resource Center.

The Technical Services Department in the Kresge Library of Notre Dame Law
School is one of three Departments (along with Research Services and Access
Services) in the library. We operate in a pleasant work environment on a
beautiful campus and within a lively community (South Bend/Mishawaka) 90
miles East of Chicago. This new position offers a chance for a skilled
librarian to make a contribution to the Human Rights work of the Center and
to enhance the availability of important documents in this area. The
salary will be competitive and appropriate for the successful candidate's
level of experience. The University offers a generous benefits package,
including medical and dental insurance, 20 vacation days, TIAA-CREF
retirement options, tuition benefits for dependents, and access to
University events. The Law Library underwrites individual membership in
the American Association of Law Libraries and liberally supports attendance
at appropriate conferences and workshops.

The position will remain open until a successful candidate has been
identified.

Please send applications with resumes and the names, addresses, phone
