The UCSF Library and the Center for Knowledge Management seek a Library
Assistant IV - Supervisor to serve as a Serials Specialist in the
Resources Management unit.

The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of day-to-day serial
control including routine business with vendors, ordering, claiming,
posting and acting upon publisher reports, establishment and maintenance
of records in various systems/databases. Also responsible for
understanding the software and procedures of various vendor serial systems
with the ability to function efficiently within these systems and transfer
data between these systems and the Library's ILS. Responsible for
identifying and analyzing problems in the INNOPAC system and other systems
to which serial records are sent: Melvyl, Serhold, Pubmed. Responsible for
original cataloging of serials according to AACRII, OCLC MARC, and LC
cataloging and classification, including electronic serials. Participates
in hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating three Serials staff whom
this position supervises. Organizes and monitors serials workflow. This
position reports to the Librarian-Manager for Resources Management.

Required Skills: 3-5 years experience with various aspects Serials control
in a library; Experience with supervision; Experience with an online
catalog and an ILS, preferably INNOPAC; Ability to communicate effectively
and work cooperatively within a team and within the larger library
organization.

Preferred Skills: Experience with health sciences serials; Knowledge
and/or experience with Melvyl, Serhold, Pubmed.

Compensation: Base salary is $3,167 - $3,800 per month full time rate.
Starting salary usually in the lower end to the middle of the range
depending on experience and qualifications. This is a career position with
