- Subject: Review files-numerical data
Dear All
I've been using review files happily and getting what I want out of them
with no problems for a long time, but this very simple request has got me
foxed.
We have a simple numerical sequence of 12000 books. Number goes into the
item record in our local SHELFMARK field (tag 949) and is not prefixed or
suffixed in any way. e.g.:
949 1
If I want to retrieve the first 8000 of them, I figure I can just create an
item file, search by shelfmark, between 1 and 8000.
But the Innopac seems unable to treat the data as numerical and finds far
more records than I want.
And when I try to sort by shelfamrk, the result is in computer numerical
order:
949 1
949 10
949 100
949 2
949 20
or something along those lines.
Why is my search going wrong? And how, how can I get the records into normal
numerical order, i.e. 1, 2, 3 ....?
