RE: B&T's TitleSource II plus Innovative

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]
Please summarize for the list. This is of major interest to us.

Here's what we're doing right now. We are using character-based
Acquisitions:

1)We place the order through TitleSource and then load it into Innovative.
The main advantage to doing it this way is that anything that's cancelled in
the return confirmation from BT does not get loaded into Innovative.
2)We use a generic location code, and individual fund codes. We can tell
what the location should be from the fund code. Right now the interface
takes either fund or location but not both.
3)The issue of multiple fund codes and locations is apparently addressed in
release 2001, but since we are not yet using that release, I can't speak to
that specifically.
4)We use QVT server software for the transfer.
5)We type in the order number for receiving, since we don't usually get the
slips back from BT :-(
6)We use streamers in each item received that the operator completes based
on the info in the order/bib record. We'd like to use work forms that print
from the system, but haven't gotten there yet.
7)We overlay the BT bib record during cataloging, but retain the attached
order record.

Hope this helps.

		Hello,

From the archives, I can see that other libraries are using
Baker & Taylor's (B&T) TitleSource II ordering system with your Innovative
software. We just had training on Millennium Acquisitions and are figuring
out procedures and workflows. Any words of wisdom on what has and has not
worked for you in acquisitions and cataloging with TitleSource II and
Innovative acquisitions (character or Millennium) would be greatly
appreciated.

We have centralized acquisitions for all our branches and
use OCLC for cataloging.

		Specifically (answer any you want):
		1) Do you place the order on TitleSource II or do you
download it to Innovative and send the order back to B&T? What are the pros
and cons of the method you use?
		2) How do you enter location and fund information into the
individual order records?
		3) How do you deal with multiple locations and funds for one
title?
		4) What FTP software do you use on your PC to download title
information from TitleSource II and transfer it to the Innopac?
		5) How do you receive the items into the Innopac (type order
number, scan barcode from p.o. slip, etc.)?
		6) How do you provide the catalogers with the information
they need to place the materials in the right location (e.g. a slip to put
in the book)?
		7) Do you catalog on OCLC and overlay the bib record? If
so, how? If not, do you keep the B&T record?

Thanks in advance for all your help. I will summarize for
the list if there is interest.

		Thank you,
		Darmae Brown
