- Subject: Inventory follow-up
Dear Colleagues
With the assistance of a summer student intern, we are going thru the error
list reports generated by our inventory. They are being compared to the
items on the shelf. Eventually I should have a list of those items which
are truly lost, stolen, or strayed. I would like to be able to go into our
catalog and edit the Error Report, deleting the records of those items
which are found, leaving behind only a list of the lost, stolen, or
strayed. If I could transfer the Error Report to a Review file, that would
be useful. But it appears that only the entire inventory file can be
transferred to a Review file. I can print the Error Report to e-mail and
edit it with a word processing package, but this file contains only the
error message, last 6 digits of the barcode, most of the call number (some
volume numbers and copy numbers get chopped off), and the first 20 letters
of the title. I would like to be able to use Create Lists to select the
fields to print out on the list, but cannot get the information into a
Review file to use Create Lists on it. So far the only way I can figure
out to do this is to transfer the entire inventory file to a Review file,
and edit out everything but the lost, stolen, or strayed. This is alot
more work than editing only the Error Report.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanx
