Mac/Netscape display problem with framed WebOPAC

A colleague on the helpdesk has forwarded this problem to me. Have any
Mac users seen this problem with WebOPACs using frames?

Since roughly two weeks it is practically impossible
to access the UNIcat web site of the Library catalogue through the
UNIcat search engine from Macs. There is no problem with other web
sites for Macs. There is no problem with this site from DOS computers.
The moment the site is accessed, a network error occurs while Netscape
is sending data. This problem occurs on Macs with OS 8.5 and OS 9,
with Netscape 4.75 and Netscape 4.77. Depending on the computer either
the upper half or the lower half of the site loads while the other half
remains blank. Repeated reloading of the site does not help and just
results in the same error message.

The problem appears to occur when a user selects a record to display. It
looks like only the top frame (navigational buttons etc) or the lower
frame (bib, checkin and item records) displays leaving the other half
blank. The user claims that this problem occurs in 8-9 times out of 10.

We have used the RECORDFRAME wwwoption for a long time and there has been
no change which might have caused this problem. We upgraded to an early
Release 2001 about 3 weeks ago which might be related and our network has
been slugging recently, but other users (most of whom use Netscape) have
not reported this problem.

I wonder if any Mac users out there might have an answer.
