We're a consortium with separate serials units and a journal title index,
and we still have a problem with this. Even searching only the journal
titles, it still takes a lot more typing and clicking to find the right
title than it should.
In my opinion, the real solution here is that in Millennium serials, when
you are searching in the serials checkin program, the system should only
be searching bibs that have checkin records for your institution
(unit.) This would make it *much* easier and quicker for people doing
serials checkin.
Of course, you would also need a way to search the whole database to
attach new checkin records, but that could be a separate process, one that
would be used less frequently, and by more experienced staff.
