- Subject: Temporary closing
The Santa Clara City Library's Central Library is closing and moving into temporary quarters while a new library is being constructed. The move to our temporary location will take about a month. We expect to be closed to the public during the month of September. We are trying to determine the simplest, easiest way to handle circulation matters during this period . . . fines, notices, etc. We hope to arrive at a solution that allows us to check materials out prior to closing, with nothing being due during the closed period, and no fines accruing or notices being generated. I know that we can simply change our Innopac calendar to reflect the closed period, but that means everything would come due on one day.
Obviously, other Innovative libraries have gone through this process, and the folks on this list have always proven to be helpful, so . . . If your library has dealt with a similar situation, would you please respond to me (off the list) with suggestions, ideas, what worked, what didn't, what you would do differently? (We are aware of the FAQ on CSDirect, but it doesn't answer a lot of our concerns.) TIA,
Steve Smith
