Local printing with the Millennium modules is different than local
printing via the character-based system. The biggest difference that I
have seen with the character-based (or telnet) system is that you can
define multiple local printer options. When you print something from
character-based, you will get the list of printer options that are
assigned to that login. These are selected via the Login Parameters of
your login. However, when you are using Milacq (or any of the Mil
modules), the local printer selections that you have are limited to one:
Local Printer.
It has been my practice that the system uses the first local printer
option associated with the particular Millennium Login that you are
using. If I use the following printers as an example of a Millennium
login:
X 1 > 1 Attached printer generic <-This is used
for local printing.
X 2 > 2 Attached okidata printer okidata
3 > 3 Attached okidata393 printer2 oki393loc
X 4 > 4 Network Laser Printer hpii
5 > 5 Label printer okidata
X 6 > 7 File save anadex
X 7 > 9 E-mail Printer generic
X 8 > 10 Windows/Mac printer generic
The Millennium client will use the first local entry (here it is line 1,
attached printer) when sending print jobs to the local printer. The
trick is that these may not always work with the exact printer that you
are trying to send to. If you are sending to a variety of local
printers, you might play with the logins or create additional ones to
nail down the printing issues.
The system printers work very well with Millennium and you can have
multiple options display with the printer choices.
As I have made the recent leap from being an Innovative trainer to a
customer, I hope you appreciate the great pressure that I am under to
sound somewhat intelligent. I was thinking of using a lifeline, but I
will wait until the $125,000 question!

I am trying to work through the issue of setting up the
local printer option on the File, Select Printer menu in
Millennium Acquisitions.
We have a variety of attached laser and dot matrix printers
as well as a networked laser printer.
I have set up the printers in the login option and the print
icon works. However when I go to select the printer from
the file, printer - standard printer - local printer option
I can get none of the attached printers to work.
I have tried to play around with the settings within
millennium i.e. graphic/text, local printer = attached
printer. (I read that graphic printing worked for java
printing on laser printer, selecting text etc. etc.)
However I have been very unsuccessful. Has anyone set up a
local attached printer within the millennium acquisitions
module that can be chosen from the menu option, file,
printer etc ? If so what type of printer was it and how
have they done it.
The Innopac HelpDesk suggested that I contact the list for
ideas.
Regards,
Laura
