Dear Lynnea,
I received your reply - thanks! I'll forward to you the replies I have had on this topic, but not many so far. At the moment we are mainly
trying to improve the indexing of our web site and don't have any museum type items here. I think for the time being we will just apply
simple keywords and description fields and see how things develop. (We only have about 600 pages at the moment.)
Best wishes and good luck,
Anne.

Subject: Dublic Core
Dear Anne,
I am interested in this issue. We have applied for an IMLS museum
library collaboration grant to digitize our local history collection and
our museum collection (local natural history museum) pertaining to
WWII. We will have a WWIi national park in our town. It was a boom
town with the Kaiser Shipyards, etc.
We decided to use Dublin Core. We will be cataloging in PastPerfect (a
museum collection management software program) and will use its virtual
exhibit module to put the images and information on the Internet.
PastPerfect uses HTML.
I decided to go that way because the museum collection management
software is more helpful for artifacts than MARC. As long as we catalog
the contents in Dublin Core (we are planning to do the full version), we
can translate the HTML to any other language that comes along for a new
application.
We are looking around for people to discuss this with. I'd be happy to
share our information with you. I'm mostly interested in museum
applications.
Regards,
Lynnea Kleinschmidt
