You'll need to edit the 856 URL's so that they begin with
your EZProxy string that sends the request through your
EZProxy server.
If you don't have too many catalog records with URL's
pointing to restricted resources, you can probably do
this one by one.
If you have a lot, you might want to use a perl program we
wrote when we decided to load 14,000 NetLibrary records
into our catalog -- and they all needed the EZProxy
string inserted!
The program is called "marc.pl", and it's available in
a zip file along with a program "showmarc.pl" that
displays the contents of a marc file. You would download
marcEZ.ZIP.
Although we used this for NetLibrary records, it's equally
usable for any marc records that need to have the EZProxy
string inserted. You could export your records with 856's
that need to point through EZProxy, run marc.pl, then
import your edited file of marc records.
